Salama colored canyon got its name because of the colors of the rocks formed from multicolored sandstone – red, pink, purple, yellow, gray, and white with traces of granite, copper, cobalt, and ancient corals. Salama Canyon is a well-preserved part of the sea floor, represented by a naturally formed giant crevice (possibly as a result of an earthquake) in the sandstone rocks. The canyon is 5 km long, 25-30 m high, and 2-10 m wide.
The program also includes quad biking (optional for an additional fee) and camel riding along the coast, snorkeling at the “Three Pools” reef consisting of three natural pools, and shopping at an authentic eastern bazaar in the city of Dahab. The excursion includes lunch at a restaurant.
