Ras Mohammed is Egypt’s first national park. It derived its name, “Ras Mohammed,” which translates to “Mohammed’s Head” or “Prophet’s Head,” from the shape of its coastline, resembling the profile of a human head. In addition to its beautiful landscape and rich underwater world, with around 150 species of coral and over 1000 species of fish, the park features interesting attractions such as mangrove forests growing in salty water and water-filled fissures in the crust.
The road to the park passes through the Gates of Allah, stone blocks arranged to form the word “Allah” in Arabic from the Egyptian side and the same inscription in Hebrew from the Israeli side. Inside the park, there is the Lake of Wishes with cold and very salty water. It is believed that if you immerse yourself in the lake and make a wish, it will come true.
